Hi All
I have done GIMP work in the past, and I read a few tutorials on it. This morning, I decided to take chance and try out a project using a one of the tutorials on Gimpchat. Click this link http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5148 for the tutorial section.
The tutorial I used made the initial starfield but first placing a layer of black, then adding a layer of white, changing the mode to dissolve and lowering the opacity to 1.0. I also added a layer of blue and adjusted the opacity for both the white and the blue.
The cloud layer I used normal mode on a fuzzy brush, but I lowered the opacity.
The planet on the lower right, I created previously using another tutorial. I don't remember the link for it, but when I find it again, I will post it.
Enjoy!

More experiments.

| Pixlr Spacescene1 |
Here is one I did a few minutes ago, using the same application; I discovered a few new tricks with PixLr that allows for a few more effects and using more layers. While you don't have the gradient flare option, you can can use the gradient tool to mimic a nearby star.
To make the clouds, I created a new layer, then I used the painting tool with the scatter and diffuse options. I also changed the opacity to a about 20 something. After that, I used gaussian blur to give it more of a "cloud" appearance.
This one I did a few minutes ago: Just playing with gradient light to see what effects I can get.
BTW, Merry Christmas everyone!

Doodles using Pixlr from Google
Hi All
Trying out a new app from google called Pixlr: it has functions that are similar to GIMP and perhaps some other photo editing apps. As long as you have a Google account, you can access it anywhere from any computer, as it is part of Google Drive.
Here is one pic I drew using that that application; I decided to take my wife's advice and draw the features first and then shape the face later using smudge tool.
Still more to come of course, I will keep everyone posted
Thanx for popping by!

Mtpaint Sci Fi
Hi All
I have always been fascinated by sci fi art even when I was a kid; I even used to have my mom purchase books for me just based on the front cover. As a result, I started drawing sci fi art.
Here is another project I working on using Mtpaint. This one I doing for my Mom for her third book in the Alien series. This one is only partly finished and I need to have some more discussions with her before this one is completed.
I used about 3 layers for the snow and the trees and about 4 layers for the stars and the planet. The nebula(or galaxy) I did in another layer by using the "speckling brush" using lots of colors, then applying a gaussian blur to the layer.
For the planet, I used the circle tool with a gradient; then I used the speckling brush again with various colors. Lastly, I used the smudge tool to give it a blend.
For info on my Mom and her books, please click this link Norma Druid

Red2
This is an experiment I did with mtpaint called red2.
I am currently using mtpaint because it takes up less of my system resources the either Inkscape or GIMP, although I will use those at a later date.
I used 4 layers in this pic, with the first one being the background layer with a gradient tool. The other 3 layers were added afterwards. I did adjust the opacity on them.
Incidentally, for more info on Mtpaint, please consult the Mtpaint handbook @ mtpaint.sourceforge.net/handbook/en_GB/chap_00.html.
I am still consulting it as a reference.

Artwork Blog
Hi All
I am at it again; I am attempting some digital art using things link GIMP, Inkscape, MyPaint and MTpaint. I am currently using Slitaz linux on my desktop now.
I will post again with some doodles when I can.
Thanx for popping by!
